Courses

The successful photographer possesses more than technical prowess, they are also masters of creating an image that tickles the senses and tells a story. The technique is just a means to the message.

Composition and photographic analysis for both beginner and advanced levels.

This course is aimed at helping the individual photographer, regardless of technical level, discover and nurture their visual creativity, to improve their story telling skills.

The course consist of 3 main elements.

  • Lectures in photographic history and compositional value. What makes a photograph interesting? What principals were applied? How were they applied? Why color? Why black and white? Why film? Why……
  • Practical photographic assignments are given at each lecture in conjunction with the subject discussed. In other words home work. The exercises are aimed to assist the participant in developing a practical understanding of composition, as well as, its value to the image as a whole.
  • Each assignment is followed up with a group discussion where each individual presents their work and receives feedback from the class. This is an integral part of the creative development process. It provides the photographer with an opportunity to find out a number of things primarily, how others perceive their images.
